12/13/09 Pacific Beach Middle International Baccalaureate Goes Global top

Pacific Beach Middle School's International Baccalaureate social studies students participated in a unique cultural exchange with the students from the Children Walking Tall Charity in Goa, India. Dedicated to providing education and assistance to the children living in the slums of India, Walking Tall Charity provided a unique opportunity for PB Middle IB teacher, Mrs. Erin Knight to hand-deliver the PB Middle penpal letters. Over the Thanksgiving break teacher Erin Knight traveled to the Indian charity where she met the pen-pals and introduced our students through cards and photos. Mrs. Knight's trip provided a unique inter-cultural opportunity for children from both sides of the world. "The children in the charity were excited by our delivery and immediately sat down to write back to their pen-pal. Not only did this service learning project bring awareness to the issues faced by children living in the slums of India, but our students were able to establish meaningful friendships across the world."

01/21/09 AP/IT Fee Reimbursement Information top

I am offering four AP/IT Test Fee Reimbursement Information Sessions in Sacramento on Tuesday, February 10 and Wednesday, March 4, 9:00 - 11:00 and Noon to 2:00 each day. And, since I cannot travel, I am also trying to set up webinars for those that cannot participate.

Webinars are scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 9:00 - 11:00 and Thursday, March 5, 1:00 - 3:00. Right now I have a confirmed location in Orange County and am working on one for San Diego; may also be one in Pasadena. I can take up to 29 sites. Also, the webinars will have an 800 toll free number -- each site can call in with questions gathered from their participants.

IB Coordinators, Administrators, Counselors, Teachers are all welcome to participate in these sessions. I need people to email me their preference so that I can determine what other locations may sponsor the webinar. I will try to send another listserv blast -- it is up to me now to learn how -- the manual is 900+ pages so . . .

Test fees are $88; registration fees are $129. The reimbursement rates will be $83 for test fees and $124 for registration fees. Students will pay $5 each.
