Fairmont Preparatory English Department Chair, Anaheim, CA - 05/20/10

The Department Chair is to provide academic leadership and vision for the department. Will work collaboratively with peers and administrators to maintain and continuously improve Fairmont’s high academic standards. The Department Chair oversees the day-to-day execution of teaching and the curriculum, and provides mentoring and support for the faculty within the department, paying particular attention to new teachers and program integration at all levels.

The exceptional candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in English with minimum of four years teaching experience at the high school level. A masters degree or credential to teach school core curriculum (English) CLAD/BCLAD is highly desirable.

We are looking for a candidate who is able to teach international students who have varying levels of English fluency. Knowledge of language acquisition theory and practice and experience working with ELL students is preferable. Literature and writing are the core of our English curriculum, and experience teaching literature and composition is a must. Teaching range, from ELL to honors and above, is always a benefit.

Must be a role model with excellent leadership and team building skills, effective management and organization skills, and positive, well-structured communication and public relations skills.
